Oakover Community Development

Australia Post engaged Baldasso Cortese to explore redevelopment options for its 1.3-hectare Preston Mail Delivery Centre site at Oakover Road and Railway Place.

The proposal transforms the site into a mixed-use residential, retail, commercial and community precinct, accommodating up to 400 dwellings and around 900 residents in a family-friendly, multi-generational environment. Community facilities may include childcare, maternal and child health, medical services, aged care, community spaces and social housing.

A new local retail hub would provide cafés, a small supermarket, pharmacy and other neighbourhood services. The development also prioritises public open space, pedestrian and cycling connections, with underground parking, pocket parks and a new pedestrian grid integrated with the surrounding residential character.

Oakover Road would be widened and landscaped as a tree-lined boulevard connecting High Street and St Georges Road, creating a well-connected, sustainable and community-focused neighbourhood.
